Zero Tolerance Domestic and Family Violence Policy

This policy outlines our approach to Domestic and Family Violence and Procedures for dealing with abusers and the abused. We take a Zero Tolerance approach to domestic and family violence. The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Promote safety
  • Identify processes for dealing with domestic and family violence issues
  • Identify responsibility for dealing with issues

 

Everyone must:

  • report incidences of domestic and family violence to management immediately
  • comfort and support those involved

 

Managers may:

  • Report the issue to police if not already done
  • Provide access to support lines
  • Protect confidentiality (particularly if “going public” will worsen the situation and safety of the victim)
  • Discuss with the victim their options for a safe place to stay or allow
  • Allow time away or leave to deal domestic and family violence issues
