Zero Tolerance Domestic and Family Violence Policy
This policy outlines our approach to Domestic and Family Violence and Procedures for dealing with abusers and the abused. We take a Zero Tolerance approach to domestic and family violence. The purpose of this policy is to:
- Promote safety
- Identify processes for dealing with domestic and family violence issues
- Identify responsibility for dealing with issues
Everyone must:
- report incidences of domestic and family violence to management immediately
- comfort and support those involved
Managers may:
- Report the issue to police if not already done
- Provide access to support lines
- Protect confidentiality (particularly if “going public” will worsen the situation and safety of the victim)
- Discuss with the victim their options for a safe place to stay or allow
- Allow time away or leave to deal domestic and family violence issues
